During the summer, children ages 12-16 join Black Dog Paddle’s Summer SUP Program. Campers will be given the opportunity to explore and experience a new world on the water via stand up paddleboarding (SUP). Throughout the camp campers will discover the gentle upper James River while learning to standup paddleboard. Activities will include stand up Paddleboarding, swimming, games, eco-awareness, water safety, races, contests and much more. Every day will be a new adventure.
Our camp focuses on all aspects of stand up paddling and river awareness, and is designed to teach a novice or build on the skills of an experienced paddler. Not only will campers gain confidence in learning paddling techniques and new SUP disciplines, but they’ll also learn about river safety, boating rules of the road, care of equipment, team building and more. Campers will be able to paddle different styles and sizes of boards to help them grow as paddlers as they develop their skills.
Our ACA Certified instructors are chosen for their passion for standup Paddleboarding and enthusiasm for teaching. All instructors are also certified in CPR/first aid.
All equipment, boards, and life jackets will be provided – if you have a personal life jacket, you can bring it to camp!
